RCS ComMunity Workspace

Please read our conditions of participation, refunds, & other info before registering or signing up for membership. These policies apply at RCS and RCC.

RCS offers a vibrant community setting and a wonderful facility to continue your independent ceramic practice. Potters or sculptors with experience working without instruction are welcome.

If you would like to be added to the waitlist, please be able to meet the requests listed below.

Requirements for participation

Payments are automatically withdrawn monthly on the date of your initial online registration. We reserve the right to change Studio Artist access or fees as needed.

Requirements for Consideration for the Independent Study Membership include:

The studio space at RCS

  • Foster a welcoming atmosphere for each studio artist or participant.

  • An ability to work on your own - you need to be self-motivated. If you need additional support you may purchase individual lessons.

  • Good habits of cleaning up

  • Communicating Clay Q&A Platform
    (in-house, online network using the Mighty Networks App)

  • Following any safety standards shown to you in the tour, such as locking up, appropriate use of equipment, and use of studio hours.

  • MUST use in-house clay: Clay purchasing from the studio at $25/bag for Whitestone & $35/bag for New Zealand Porcelain. Your firings and in-house glazes are included with your clay purchase fee. (We do offer three slips to vary the color palette.)

  • Keep projects that you make under 15” in any direction

  • Participate in Clay Q&A - an in house communication and information platform. This is where everyone may ask questions, communicate challenges, or celebrate success! All studio communication about kilns and studio flow are here.

FEES:

  • One Time Set up Fee of $75

  • Each Studio Artist is invoiced monthly at $155 (or $165 if you would like extra storage/ $185 a month for a XL cubby per month). Your timely payment holds your access to the studio as well as other benefits for RCS Artists. You may cancel at any time after your first three months have passed. There are no refunds or prorations if you have paid for a month. Cancel before your membership renews.

  • Re-Set-up Fee of $75
    If your membership is canceled due to insufficient funds, or an expired or declined card you will have to pay the set up fee again to retain your membership


As a member you receive:

RCS studio space

  • Quarterly Meeting:
    Access to our member’s meeting where we ask questions, share techniques, or catch-up. These vary to allow everyone a chance to come.

  • Storage Space:
    12” x 12” Personal cubby for tool storage & personal shelf for storage of work in process

  • Equipment Access:
    Access to potters wheels, extruder, slab roller, spray booth, studio glazes, & a well-lit and maintained ceramics studio

  • Monthly Firings:
    Artwork fired for you as ware carts fill. We fire Bisque Kilns the first week of the month to cone 06 and Glaze Kilns the third week of the month to cone 6. Please look on the google calendar to see when the next firing is. Additional Firings may be added if the carts become full of artwork needing firing. If you are a high-production maker, additional support from you may be needed to load kilns and more.

  • Practice Hours:
    Studio access with generous practice hours 9am-9:00pm Sunday-Tuesday/ 9am-10:00pm Wednesday-Saturday. There are no practice hours during other occasional workshops, events, or studio maintenance dates. Practice Hours are scheduled online and seven people are allowed in the building at one time.

  • Access to our Clay Q&A Platform with informative articles, videos, and feed to ask questions.

  • Be part of our vibrant clay community of 40+ people with different skills and interests in clay!

  • Participation in optional community exhibitions and pottery sales.
